What is Barriers to Communication?
This is an aspect of physical separation, status differences, gender differences, cultural diversity, and language that can impair effective communication in a workplace.
General Communication Skills
Tone of Voice
When you’re giving a presentation you should also change your tone of voice. For example when your talking really low and quiet, your audience would get really sleepy (tired) and not be interested at all. But if you raise your voice here and there, the audience would get interested (wake up) and listen to what you’re saying.
Time
Lack of Concentration
This would also be a very important thing when it comes to talking to an audience. When your PowerPoint doesn’t have any picture, video or animations. If it was just text, your audience would get very bored and just get feed up with the situation. But if your PowerPoint has pictures, videos and animations, your audience would find it very interesting and worth the listen to.
Low self-esteem
This is when a man/woman doesn’t have enough confidence to speak to a large group of people. This may vary a number of people; this is because they don’t like talking to a number of people. And only like a current amount (a hand full of people).
When you’re studying for an exam or something else, you would like a nice quiet place to study. But some people prefer to have background music while their studying. This is a barrier because you cannot hear the people around you.

Written Communication
Spelling and Grammar
When you’re writing a speech or a report, you should use the proper English language and not use slang language. Always check your spelling before you present the information to an audience.
Using an inappropriate structure (format)
When you produce a report, you should always have it the right format. For example, you should start of with an Introduction paragraph, then your information and ending (conclusion). If you don’t get this right, your readers would get very confused and not read it.
